It has been a rough go for the PGA Tour Professional Dustin Johnson since his six-month suspension in August due to drug abuse and his decision to seek help.
But, there is a glimmer of hope in his not so distant future.
With Johnson's wife-to-be expecting and his suspension soon to expire, Johnson anticipates a return to golf at the 2015 Farmer's Insurance Open in February.
However, according to his manager David Wrinkle, Johnson is no different than any other father expecting a child and a return is not for certain.
But, in the meantime, Johnson can only prepare for his return and get his health in order.
According to Golf Digest's Tim Rosaforte, Johnson has been persistently preparing under trainer Joey Diovisalvi in Palm Beach, Fla.
Diovisalvi believes Johnson has turned a new leaf and is
completely dedicated to his mission.
"His workouts include 30-mile bike rides and 40 sessions
(including two-a-days)," Diovisalvi said. "From a
performance standpoint, it's as good as I've
ever seen, maybe better."
Rosaforte also states that in addition to Diovisalvi training
regimen Johnson has been practicing with his coach
Claude Harmon III at the Floridian.
There has been the word that not long after this duo was united that Johnson proceeded to break the course record at Sherwood Country Club in California, with a score of 61.
"He's showed up on time, hit balls and has looked good," Harmon said in an interview with Golf Digest. "He looks healthy, really calm, and chilled out."
However, only time will tell where Johnson is in stride to get back to the top of the leaderboards.
According to the former coach, Butch Harmon Johnson is the better than he has been in years but remains cautiously optimistic.
From a performance standpoint, it's as good as I've ever seen, maybe better.
