Mickelson Named Interim Assistan Coach
By Jeremy Beale
It seems that Phil Mickelson is looking to step into some new shoes as his brother Tim Mickelson has extended him the opportunity to fill the golf assistant coaching position at Arizona State University.
According to the Pitchfork's Blog, the former Sun Devil won three NCAA individual championships in 1989, 1990 and 1992. And then assisted the team's victory in 1990.
"The timing of an assistant coach job opening and my brother always showing an interest in helping ASU has allowed Phil to join us as an assistant coach on an interim basis," Tim said in his released statement. "To share the Arizona State experience with my brother is a dream come true for our family, as he will be able to help in many ways as an official member of the Sun Devil staff."
According to Tim, where this may be on an interim
basis, the ASU staff could not be happier.
This will also be good news for Phil, with his recent
spills with the Ryder Team and the bad publicity from
the IRS scandal.
However, while there has been no formal statement from good old Lefty himself, all the Phil fans can rest easy knowing he is enjoying his break from the tour.
