Reed Receives Controversial Penalty

Reed often referred to as the Young Gun on tour is in the news again, but this time it is not as a result of his quick drawing game, but rather his easily tempered attitude.

Where Reed is seldom known for his popularity on tour, he has been known to push the limits of this humbled gentlemen's sport.

Nevertheless, call it wrong place, wrong time, or call it whatever you will, Reed's actions during the first round of the WGC-HSBC Championship at Sheshan International Golf Club were far from gentlemanly.

As he stood center green on hole No.1, (his 10th hole of the day) missing a six-foot putt, he was caught on camera saying to himself, “Don’t f***ing three-putt you f***ing f*ggot.”

Needless to say, Reed's remarks were not received well.

Where there were a few fans who questioned the call Reed

received pleading the case that a man cannot be held

accountable for muttering to himself in private,

the PGA Tour still took immediate action releasing a

statement on Reed's behalf.

"The PGA Tour Conduct Unbecoming regulations prohibit

the use of obscene language on the golf course," the statement said

. "The PGA Tour will deal with this matter

internally in accordance with its regulations."

Where there was no indication whether Reed was to be punished for his actions, he still showed remorse for what he had said.

Reed took to Twitter announcing a public apology stating:

"I'm sorry for using offensive language today in China," Reed said. "My passion to play well got the best of me and my word choice was unacceptable."

But, not everyone feels that Reeds apology was sincere enough and would hope that the Professional Golf Association would release a statement that shows that there is a punishment in order.

According to Golf Illustrated, The PGA Tour has a longstanding policy of not disclosing any player fines or suspensions for conduct or language, but many feel in this circumstance there needs to be an immediate action set in place.
