The Road To Merion

On the eve of the 113th Anniversary of the U.S. Open, once again everyone is looking towards golf icon Tiger Woods for a spectacular showing. It has been five years since Woods last won the U.S. Open and it has also been five years since Woods claimed a major victory on the PGA Tour.

However, with his four most recent wins on the professional stage, golf fans everywhere are asking will Woods take home the 2013 Merion Cup.

With all speculations aside, it does not matter whether or not the 2013 Memorial Tournament was Woods practice for Merion, it does not

matter if Woods is dating Lindsey Vonn, nor does it matter

if Sergio Garcia told Woods he can join him for fried

chicken. All that matters at this point is the question,

“has Woods started to resemble his former self?”

In the majority opinion, the golf community sees an

improving golfer ready to take home a major at any time,

but continually falls short of victory.

As golf fans are led into the first round of play Thursday there is little assurance that Woods will win this event.

However, where an assured victory is boring and overrated, true victory is attained through excelling beyond the expectations of man.

Now, just as everyone loves the epic hero in a story, there are also those who love the tragic hero.Which will Woods be at the end of his road to the 2013 Merion Cup?

Well like most attributes in golf patience is a virtue.
